Sneak Peek at Spring

While it’s still only February, it’s tough not to take a look at what’s in store for fashion this spring.  Runway shows can be fun to watch, but it’s often difficult to translate haute couture into everyday wear.  Glamour magazine lists the more wearable trends, but for everyday wear in Charlottesville, we typically look for more practical items.  (Perhaps more wearable than the runway shots of bold prints, below, if you catch my drift.)

Fortunately for us, we have cool boutiques in Cville that understand the latest looks and bring us items that will withstand many seasons.  See how we compare the trends, as listed by Glamour, to new arrivals at Scarpa Charlottesville (North Wing, Barracks Road Shopping Center).

The trend:  Color-blocking

More practical:  Berry woven flat.  Color-blocking accomplished, but in subdued and neutral shades, more likely to coordinate with items already in your closet.  By Attilio Giusti Leombuni, $358.

The trend:  Bold prints

More practical:  Printed tunic.  The fan print shows quirk, but just enough to keep the style simple.  By Bell, $225.

The trend:  Pretty pastels
Even more versatile:  a rosy tote.  The blush color is great for the warmer months, but would make for a nice fall and winter bag too.  Eden tote by Botkier, $545.

The trend:  Metallics
Practical:  metallic flats.  Since shiny objects like pants and skirts can be hard to pull off, take a little of that shimmer to your feet instead.  Elba flats in silver, by Pons Quintana, $410.
