Charlottesville City Market starts up again this Saturday, April 2, and I couldn’t be happier! It’s time to put the cold weather behind us, embrace sunny Saturday mornings, and enjoy fresh, local food again. Of course, it’s also wonderful to be able to browse the tables of our local crafters and jewelry designers, like…
Jewelry Etc. by Harriet Mackie
(Freshwater pearl and sterling silver earrings, about $25)
These are one of my favorite pairs of earrings. In fact, I recently wore them when I went to see the Richmond Ballet perform at PVCC the other week. As I stood at the ticket line, I noticed that the woman behind me looked very familiar. It was Harriet! I hadn’t seen her in many months but figured out pretty quickly who she was – especially when she said, “You’re wearing my earrings!” And I replied, “You sold me these earrings!” Yes, I’m very sharp. Harriet confirmed she’ll be at City Market again this year, so that’s good news for sure.
Snazzy Frogs (Cyane D. Williams)
I haven’t caught up with Cyane in awhile, and hoping that she’ll be a City Market vendor again this year. Her table was chock full of all sorts of goodies – fun hand-painted sunglasses, pendants and calendars featuring her own illustrations, custom portraits, and more. I’ll be looking for her and hopefully reporting the goods back to you! You can also go to the Snazzy Frogs website to see her designs (“Foxes Frolic” continues to be my personal favorite).
There are several other vendors I want to check out and share with all of you. Here’s hoping we get nice weather on Saturday so I can take some decent pictures. Rain or shine, see you then!
